Movement & Stage Director
I’m inspired by people and stories. I enjoy transforming spaces through people and movement; Large spaces, intimate spaces, outdoor spaces, unconventional spaces, screens.
I’m engaged by creating theatre and opera that provides an audience experience. I love collaborating with other creatives and seeking different perspectives through the work. I’m interested in habits, rituals, history, and the stories that define us.
Rachel develops inclusive, interactive interdisciplinary work, with the intention to engage with social and environmental issues that activates and connects audiences.
Her experience spans across Theatre, Film and Opera.
As an artist Rachel collaborates with directors, writers, photographers, film and musicians. Their breadth of work spans across multimedia and interdisciplinary forms.
As a creative, she has also worked as a Director and as a Playwright for youth theatre. Offering a depth of experience as a workshop leader and pedagogue, drawing on experience working as a Drama and dance teacher with varied groups of children, young adults and people of all ages internationally.
Rachel’s vocational practice as a movement tutor and lecturer for Actor Training, Dancers and Singers, incorporates her research in expression and breath.
Rachel completed her MA Movement Directing and Teaching at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London, and BA Hons Dance (Performing Arts) at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.
Previous engagements include: The Grange Festival; Welsh National Opera; Sony Pictures Network; Nevill Holt Opera; The Orange Tree Theatre; Beijing Music Festival; Leeds Playhouse; and as a pedagogue at Morley College; The Royal Ballet School and Peking University.
